Bur Oak Highschool 2007–08 Calendar

The following courses will be offered at Bur Oak High School. When selecting courses, please note the grade level and destination of each course, and pay special attention to the prerequisite or recommended background. Also, note any materials and equipment fees charged.

Students should refer to the York Region District School Board Course Directory at www.yrdsb.edu.on.ca for general information concerning the Ontario Secondary School curriculum and specifically the academic programs available in York Region schools. Additional course information and flow charts to show the progression from one grade to another, by subject, are in both the Board directory and the following online course calendar.

Students should continue to update their Annual Education Plan to assist with their decisions. By referring to their credit counseling summary and using the program planner, student can select courses to meet graduation requirements and achieve their educational goals.

Bur Oak Highschool
From the YRDSB Website >>

Students living in the Wismer Community will be held at Markham District High School until Bur Oak SS opens in September 2007. Bur Oak SS will hold students living within the Greensborough and Cornell communities starting September 2007 until a school is built in their area. Opening dates are yet to be determined. Bur Oak SS will also hold students living in the Markham District High School community bounded by Ninth Line, Hwy 7, Reesor Rd, and Hwy 407.The boundaries for the new highschool opening in September 2007 are as follows:

North:
bullet from the intersection of the back of the lot on the south side of Elgin Mills Rd
bullet and the centre line of McCowan Rd
bullet East to the centre line of Hwy 48

East:
bullet From the intersection of the back of the lots on the south side of Elgin Mills Rd
bullet and the centre line of Hwy 48
bullet South to the centre line of 16th Ave

South:
bullet From the intersection of the centre line of Hwy 48 and the centre line of
bullet 16th Ave
bullet West to the centre line of McCowan Rd

West:
bullet From the intersection of the centre line of 16th Ave and the centre line of

48 Grade 8 students from Cornell Village Public School will attend the new highschool. For more information, please attend the Information night on February 8, 2007 at 7pm located at John McCrae PS (565 Fred McClaren, off Bur Oak Ave).
