April 15, 2007 – The eggs dotted the landscape, the horses were ridden, the faces were painted... yet another successfully-planned SayItCornell.com event! Bu-ut, how could anyone not notice what a cold day it was for Easter celebrations this year?! It was co-o-old but it didn't stop a sporadic flow of 2,500 people from the spirit of the event!
This year, the Annual Cornell Easter Egg Hunt was moved to Bur Oak Avenue. The new location provided us with the opportunity to not only work side-by-side with the new businesses, but to expand the event and to direct new traffic from all over the region to the area (this is what we are most proud of)! Not only that, but quick thinking for the uncooperative weather moved much of the event's attractions indoors where it was warm for guests of all ages. A petting zoo, pony rides, horse & carriage rides, professional Easter Bunny photos, crafts, give-aways, more games, and more prizes were all added, many thanks to the level of interest from our participating sponsors. We had a great time! Did you? Read on:
"We had so much fun with the Petting Zoo and Pony Rides! There was a constant line-up and the children were so well-behaved. It was a joy to work with you, Sheila – you were very organized and clear about everything. Whenever we had questions, we knew we would get answers. We'll definitely do it again with you next year!"
– Ruth Crawford, The Bridge
"Absolutely well done to Sheila and all involved. Even with bitter cold wind and SNOW, it was clearly a great success."
– David Caldarelli, Cornell Resident
"Had a great time. Congratulations on an excellent event. I have the picture of me and the Easter Bunny on my door – it is a
laugh!"
– Jack Heath, Regional Councillor, Town of Markham
"The kids who did the hunt were fantastic and seemed to have a great time. The volunteers from the Rhenish Church who laid out the eggs and cleaned up the area afterwards were fantastic and the teenagers who helped were terrific too. The hunts could not have happened without them."
– Maria Escandon, Volunteer, Lead Court Manager
"I think that regardless of the awful weather, the event was very well organized and that the kids had a blast! I was commenting to my wife that you guys really did a great job and that the new Bur Oak area will be THE new Cornell place for everything. It is great to have so many stores and vendors offering all kinds of products and services."
– Levin Rodriguez, Cornell Resident and EEH Event Photographer
After hundreds of hours in planning, from SayItCornell.com to you, thank you everyone for coming, for volunteering, for getting involved!
