|
|
Just so that we all feel comfortable participating in discussions, we must post some rules so that everyone feels welcome and like they have a voice. So here it goes:
The Rules:
1. Register and/or sign in to post your message.
2. To validate all topics on the forum, we ask and encourage that real identities be revealed. Please, stand by what you say by using either your personal or business name.
3. Please introduce yourself in the Introduce Yourself, Meet Your Online Neighbours forum.
4. Choose your words wisely. Reading text can bring about different interpretations than it was otherwise intended. Use smileys appropriately to help to convey your message. Re-read your post before submitting to avoid misrepresenting your statement or contribution.
5. If you, as a SayItCornell.com member, are ignorant to a discussion or topic, learn from it quietly prior to participating. Instigating flames for sheer fun is not welcome and considered truly classless and ignorant. Think through your actions and understand how they will reflect on you (even online).
6. No vulgar or derogatory language. No racism or suggestive remarks about any other race or institution. Religion, lifestyle preferences, politics, drugs, and sex should be handled with a delicate treatment.
7. Please post your message only once in only one forum.
8. Any type of spamming will be removed without hesitation and without notice.
9. This site is for all – we are not in the same boat if a SayItCornell.com member wants to bring down any other project, business, person, (elected) group, or organization. We feel that everyone and everything has a purpose, just as we do. Your opinions are indeed important to us, but defamatory posts will be edited at our sole discression and without warning.
10. Details of CRIME need to stay OFFLINE. Crime PREVENTION may be MENTIONED! Regarding topics of security, we would like to suggest that forum users post with extra caution. Perhaps by refraining from posting the specifics of crimes, weaknesses that may exist in our community, details of our possessions, and personal routines, it will deter opportunities for unwanted crime – browsers from the world wide web have access to all of this information too. SayItCornell.com has removed and will continue to 'adjust' posts that contain such details, at our sole discretion. Please, notify us at your earliest convenience if you come across anything that we may have missed. Furthermore, we fully encourage residents to depend on respective Neighbourhood Watch (NW) programs to obtain knowledge on anything relating to your community's security issues. We thank all of you, our forum members, for your understanding and co-operation.
11. Be honest and genuine, have a few laughs, and learn. This is our personal favorite.
Enjoy the site!
