EMS provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance service for the residents and visitors of York Region. Ambulances and Paramedic Response Vehicles are strategically placed throughout the Region to provide emergency coverage. A Central Ambulance Communication Centre (CACC), located in Barrie, currently dispatches York Region EMS vehicles.

MEDIA RELEASE: Arrest has been made in Markham

May 1, 2007 –The York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit, in partnership with officers in the #5 District Property Crime Unit, have arrested a 20-year-old Markham man in connection with two robberies of the same gas station in the Town of Markham.

On Friday, April 30, 2007, officers from the Hold-Up Unit arrested Ryan Adam GEORGIADIS, 20, of Markham in the area of Ninth Line and 16th Avenue without incident. A search warrant was subsequently executed at his residence that is located in close proximity to the gas station. As a result, officers seized a quantity of Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission Scratch and Win tickets, clothing matching that worn by the suspect and a knife believed used during the commission of both robberies.
