The Markham Economist & Sun is published two times a week (Thursday and Saturday) serving the communities of Markham, Unionville and Milliken. It has a circulation of 50,000.

In 1856, David Reesor founded the Markham Economist, which flourished. Since 1881, the Economist’s rival, was the Markham Sun. It was bought by the Economist in 1915, creating the Economist & Sun. The merger proved successful, and the paper has continued to flourish since then. In 1988, the Economist & Sun began producing three issues per week, a publishing schedule that continues today.

The Little Paper That Grew rose from the ashes of the Toronto Telegram newspaper on Nov. 1, 1971. The Sunday Sun was launched Sept. 16, 1973 and the Saturday Sun began Sept. 6, 1986. The Monday to Saturday Sun is available at newspaper boxes and retail outlets, the Saturday Sun is also available in some areas via home delivery, while The Sunday Sun is also available through home delivery.
