January 2008 – My next review is about Emily Windsnap and the Monster in the Deep by Liz Kessler. Emily has a secret – she is a mermaid, just don't tell anyone! She lives on an island in the middle of the ocean with her mom and dad.
Everything is peaceful – until Emily wakes up the Kraken, a mysterious but deadly sea monster!
Something was reaching out from the tunnel, feeling around. Oh God! What was it? A huge tube, almost as hinck as the tunnel itself: slimy and dark green. One side was rubbery and shiney, then it flipped and twistedover and its underneath was grey and covered in black spots. They looked like giant warts. In between them, great thick suckkers grabbed onto the wall like the suction cups on the soap holder Mum keeps inthe shower, only about fity times bigger – and a hundred times uglier.
