The Tail of Emily Windsnap | Liz Kessler
Siobhan's Book Rating (out of 5):
March 2007 – My March book is "The Tail of Emily Windsnap" by Liz Kessler. The story passes many scenes but one is at a beautiful palace far below the waves and full of sealife. The seaweed brushes against Emily's stomach and brightly coloured fish flutter about like butterflies in the ocean. In this amazing chapter book, Emily and her new friend, Shona, find happiness, sadness, magic, and danger.
With hair the shade of baked brownies and eyes deeper than the blue sea, Emily Windsnap is an adventuresome girl who discovers... she has a tail! It was quite by accident, but she soon begins the experience of a lifetime to find out who she really is – and to find her kidnapped father! Emily's father was taken by the merdivers when she was a baby because he broke the rules. You see, he married Emily's mother,... a human.
Under the sea, Emily meets Shona who has short blond hair, sparkling eyes, and a true heart for friendship. Shona Silkfin helps her to get her father back, but will they ever find him? I can't tell you everything so you will have to read the book for more! Will they find him?
I really like this book, and like usual, I couldn't put it down. Well, it has mermaids in it and it is an adventure which I always enjoy. My mom said, "No more mermaid books for a while, okay?" and I had to promise... Just because I need to take a break from writing about mermaids (and drawing them), it doesn't mean that I will stop reading about them – I just finished reading "Mermaid Wishes" by Carol Barton too. But next Review, you'll get something a little less wet in "The Higher Power of Lucky" by Susan Patron.
