Calling All Garage Organizers – HELP!!
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT SHERI GAMMON DEWLING >>

November 2008 – This month’s article is a departure from providing advice on organizing solutions that are proven. This time, WE need YOUR help!! Read about our ‘garage disorganization’ issues and send your proven solutions. In the following month, we will attempt the best solutions and provide feedback on the ideas that work.

Overview
Our garage is the dumping ground for all things unwanted in the house. Gradually, boxes, bins, tools and toys have taken over the space, leaving no room for the cars. Since the winter season quickly approaches, we are tasked with finding solutions to organize the mess and make room for the intended occupants – our cars.

Space hogs
In addition to the garbage bins, organic and recycle containers, there are a number of bins housing clothes, old toys and household items that are waiting for garage sale season next spring. Bicycles, battery operated kids cars, strollers and miscellaneous sports equipment take up the majority of the remaining floor space.

Where IS it when we need it??!!
We own just about every tool know to ‘handyman.’ There are several tool boxes, plastic drawer units and shelves housing everything from hand tools to power tools, screws, bolts, and every possible left over part from items purchased over the years... ‘just in case’ we should ever need that part. We could actually fix that loose shelf in the house if we could ever find the screwdriver and plug to fit it.

You AREN’T coming into MY house
Outdoor furniture pads and pillows, out of season decorations and a host of other items that could house tiny unwanted critters MUST reside in the garage. These items are not welcome in the home since they could hatch in it and call their own.

HELP – Send us your ideas
We need your solutions to provide a winter home for our cars. Send your garage organizing ideas to sheri@justmomsense.com; include ‘garage idea’ in the subject line.

Come back next month to see if your idea worked for us and to view the before and after pictures.
