The Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) and the Angus Glen Golf Club have joined together again to present the 2007 Canadian Open. This tournament will mark the second occasion the golf facility has hosted Canada's most prestigious golf event. The 2007 event will highlight two important changes: the date and the course. The 2007 Canadian Open will be the first year the event is played in July rather than September. And the tournament will be played on Angus Glen's North Course, as opposed to the South Course which held the 2002 Canadian 0pen.

The PGA Tour announced a new playing schedule for 2007, creating a more compact competitive season. This new schedule placed the Canadian Open from July 23 to July 29, 2007. "We see this date change as a positive opportunity to promote the event as a family experience for golfers of all ages," notes J.C.Cunningham, General Manager at Angus Glen Golf Club. "The event is also an excellent opportunity to entertain clients and colleagues. The weather in July is spectacular and there's no better way to pass the day with a colleague than watching some really outstanding golf."

Angus Glen's North Course is proud to host to the 2007 Canadian Open. In order to prepare itself for this privilege Angus Glen sought the assistance of Davis Love III, PGA Tour Professional, to assist in restructuring the course. Davis Love III’s design firm, Love Design and Angus Glen's maintenance and horticulture teams have been hard at work narrowing and lengthening fairways, resizing bunkers and strategically placing the tees in order to create a course that will challenge the most seasoned of professionals, yet still be enjoyable for public play.

The Canadian Open tournament consists of a field of 156 professionals and amateurs made up of the following:
PGA Tour exempt players
Non-exempt players who qualify through regional qualifying
Canadian Amateur champion and runner-up
Players given exemptions by the Royal Canadian Golf Association

All 156 players tee up on Thursday and Friday with a cut to the lowest 70 scores and ties after Friday's round. The remaining 70, plus ties, will battle it out in stroke play until a winner is determined on Sunday afternoon. In the case of a tie on Sunday, a champion will be decided in a sudden death playoff.
