Markham Public Libraries support the aspirations of all members of the community, nourishing growing minds and celebrating the power of reading to change lives and enrich leisure time. Services include 600,000 books, DVDs, videos, audio books, cds, cd-roms, and magazines in a variety of languages; free computer access with word processing and other software; free Internet access; free access to online databases; business resources; individual and group study rooms (limited locations); meeting room rentals; wireless access (limited locations); programs for all ages that inform, inspire, educate, and entertain; electronic access to information and photos detailing Markham's history; and, expert staff to assist you to navigate the world of information. The Thornhill Village Library is located on the north side of Colborne Street, just east of Yonge Street, in the village of Thornhill. Built in 1851 and partially renovated in 1992, the Library provides an inviting reading-room atmosphere for local residents. The building has been designated as an historic building.
